Our Adventures

Our woodland adventures run for two hours. We will always welcome you to the woodland, introduce the theme and activities of the day and then send you off to explore and get stuck in. Roughly an hour into the session we gather together in our yurt for a story; the kids get a snack and the adults get tea and cake. Once everyone is refreshed, children can choose to join in with a craft, then there’s a little more time to play before we round things up with a bit of bubble popping.

Who Is It For?

We offer a range of adventures for children up to 12 years old and their grown-ups. We suggest an age range for each type of adventure but this is only a suggestion, and you know your children best. We do find little children get the most out of our sessions once they are walking confidently and can fully explore the woods and older children tend to feel a little too grown up for our activities once they have finished primary school, but basically, we love to see anyone who is keen to roll with woodlice or dig for worms!

In general, our family adventures are aimed at children up to 6 years old, our holiday adventures are for children up to 8 years old and our workshops are for children over 5.

What Will They Do?

Each week the adventures follow a different theme, which can be seasonal, nature related or just creative fun! In the last week of term and at some of our holiday adventures we finish with a campfire and marshmallows.

In our family and holiday adventures we try to offer a mix of activity types so children can enjoy physical, sensory and imaginative play, try messy activities and develop their fine and gross motor skills. Kids can join in with all the activities or can just enjoy exploring the site and playing in whatever way suits them best. We hope that children and their parents will enjoy being together outside, try some new things, meet some new people, and get some new play ideas.

We run a variety of workshops each year which are based on leaning a new skill or practising a natural craft. Our workshops always end with a campfire and marshmallows.

Good To Know

  • Adults are required to stay with their children for all of our adventures and workshops.
  • You will meet two members of the Little Wild Things team at each adventure.
  • We keep our sessions small so we have time for a little play with everyone. You can expect to see around 20 other children and their grown-ups at an adventure.
  • We are all about free play so your children can choose to be involved in the activities, story time and craft, or just enjoy the woods in their own way.
